Barfly @ The Cannery: The First In Asia
Barfly, a sexy supper club under the Buddha Bar umbrella, is set to arrive on Singapore shores with grand flourish. Opening this December, it will be a significant part of Singapore’s ultimate eatertainment nightlife hotspot that is The Cannery…
Born out of Raymond Visan’s—the nightlife impresario and pioneer behind the Buddha Bar chain—vision of restaurant-meets-entertainment, Barfly was first started in Paris. Inspired by one of his favourite films of all time, Barfly, the eponymous restaurant became the first in Paris to have a “live” DJ. The Buddha bar chain burgeoned from there as Visan mastered the art of creating fun and hip clubby environs for an upscale, well-heeled, well-traveled clientele.
Set in a lavish space that seats about 450 people, Barfly Singapore is a stunning restaurant/bar with all the right moves. Here, it’s Parisian chic-meets-New York cool. Picture a super-long bar that stretches across the room, a statue flown in straight from the original Buddha Bar in Paris. Rich colours, plush fabrics and sleek modern lines converge to bring high style and a touch of the Orient to this place. The crowd at Barfly will be sophisticated men and women-about-town. See-and-be-seen is the philosophy. You come to barfly to mingle, not just dine.
But dine splendidly you will. The brand is known for its modern and witty takes on Pacific Rim cuisine. Sushi and seafood reign. Indulge in Barfly Singapore’s special sushi rolls and homemade sorbets. Other highlights are equally decadent and exquisite, like Pacific lobster noodles and seafood ravioli with XO sauce. The kitchen is helmed by chef Barry Lim whose resume includes a stint at The Raffles Hotel and being an honoured member of the highly esteemed Associe de Societe Escoffier. With a menu created by The Cannery’s Executive Chef Edward Voon and Barry Lim, look forward to inventive dishes will take your taste buds on exotic journeys.
For the initiated, Barfly Singapore is simply an extension of the bon vivant lifestyle. The vibe is swish and sexy. But more than that, you come for the great music that has made Buddha Bar a ubiquitous brand in hotspots around the globe. The label’s chill, hypnotic beats will get you grooving well past midnight. At Barfly, you’re set for a night of seduction. Sensuality pervades through the music, the food and most of all, your mood.
