dbl 0 is proud to announce that one of their Mixologists, Alex Tan, has been crowned champion of the recent National and Asia Pacific Cocktail Competitions. Alex will go on to represent Singapore at the World Cocktail Competition to be held in Berlin next year…

In the gruelling National and Asia Pacific Cocktail Competitions, which were held on two consecutive days in August, Alex’s Dark Angel proved to be more than a match for contestants around the world. His concoction came out tops among the 96 competitors in the National Cocktail Competition and 13 finalists in the Asia Pacific Cocktail Competition, who hail from England, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Alex shares with us his inspiration for his Dark Angel. “As the World Cocktail Competition is scheduled to be held in Berlin next year, I wanted to create a garnish that is significant to the host country,” he says. “So I carved the garnish from a radish in the shape of an angel, which was inspired by the Goddess of Victory, Goldelse in Berlin.”

Another dbl 0 Mixologist, Khng Kun Yao has also won the second place in the National Cocktail Competition with his creation, Blossom of the Sea. They’re sure that Alex and all our Mixologists would continue to create imaginative cocktails for the world to savour.
