Never far from the boxes of the world’s best DJs, music stores or discerning clubbers playlists, Zouk is thrilled to announce the release of “Zouk In The House” a 3CD release on the Defected Label, featuring standout mixes by Simon Dunmore and Zouk’s very own djB and Jeremy Boon!
THE PARTNERSHIP
After years of cultivating the house scene in Singapore, playing Defected releases and booking stellar artists from the label including Masters At Work, Joey Negro, Martin Solveig, Sandy Rivera and Copyright, Zouk is honored with its own addition to the respected ‘In The House’ series.
“I feel that we can help spread the Zouk message across the globe. The club has a fantastic heritage and integrity; it dovetails into our own philosophies perfectly.” Simon Dunmore, Defected Label Boss.
THE MUSIC, THE MIXES & THE MEN WHO DID THEM
This package includes 3 distinct mixes, each with their own inspiration, nuances and flavour, guarantee listeners variety and the perfect party soundtrack for all occasions.
Disc 1 is by Jeremy Boon, resident of Velvet Underground, Zouk‘s exclusive sexy sister club, with a mix that reflects the rooms sophisticated sound. Eclectic, deep and musical, Jeremy’s ability to weave through genres ensures a journey through music, full of wonder and surprises, the enduring qualities that draw him a discerning audience week in, week out. His breadth and diversity clearly evident in his track choices, from the futuristic soul tech house remix by Dennis Ferrer of The Sunburst Band’s ‘Journey To The Sun’, to afro house anthem ‘I Exist Because Of You’ (Dixon’s Stripped Down Version) by Henrik Schwarz & Amapondo to the jazzy house workout that is Reel People’s Alibi’ (Rasmus Faber Remix).
Label boss Simon Dunmore does disc 2, reaffirming his place as house music’s consummate tastemaker with and uplifting and soulful mix. It features upfront future dance floor anthems likes The Montanas feat. Roland Clark – Music talking and ATFC Bad Habit 09 Lektrotek Re-Visit, both tracks absolute highlights. As well as some firm classic tracks like Jonny Corporates ‘Sunday Shoutin’ Daniel Bovie & Roy Rox Mix and Norma Jean Bell ‘I’m The Baddest *****’.
The final mix is by none other than Zouk main room resident djB. Dubby, techy and percussive, djB’s mix captures the essence of his successful ‘We Luv House’ nights at Zouk to a tee. Guaranteed to get your toes wiggling as you listen, it also features his own exclusive track, “Da Capo 2008″ alongside other dancefloor stompers like the summer’s mega club anthem, Axwell & Bob Sinclar featuring Ron Carroll ‘What A Wonderful World’ (Instrumental).
Flawlessly put together, djB manages to bring the magic of a big room night out right to you wherever you are. Mega club anthem by Bob Sinclar, What a Wonderful World the biggest summer tune Mark knight remix of harem, club favourtie of Zouk.

Very Collab – a party celebrating the launch of ‘Zouk in The House’, a 3CD release on Defected
& other collaborations followed by
Defected Party with Simon Dunmore (UK), djB and Jeremy Boon
Zouk marks the alliance between Zouk and Defected Records with the release of ‘Zouk In The House’ by throwing a signature Very party celebrating the joy of working together, ‘Very Collab’. The last Very party for 2008 showcases burgeoning talents of today and tomorrow, across the creative disciplines of music and design.
Asha, Singapore’s award winning soul singer and Electrico’s keyboardist extraordinaire, Amanda Ling perform tracks from the album live with djB and Jeremy Boon on the decks.
Then support your favourite design duo as they go head to head in Zouk‘s ‘Design Contenders’ competition. Inspired by ‘Icon Chef’ a programme from Resfest, the international digital film festival before it ceased in 2006, where design teams comprising 1 graphic & 1 motion designer will challenge other teams to create one A3 flyer artwork & one 30 sec motion clip; Done live on the spot, the theme just given on the night and only an hour on the clock!
No need for just standing around as everyone can get in on the collaborative spirit and take part in activities like “Puzzle Guzzle” a giant group “word search” and “Musical Pairs” linking artists who worked together for drinks on the house!
And finally don’t miss out on seeing the various original artworks on display throughout the club. Given classic Zouk symbols, like the eye, selected designers were given free reign to interpret the concept in any medium they chose. Video installation, sculpture, painting, you won’t know what to expect.
