Km8 Will Officially Close Its Doors on 31 March 2009
Km8 will end its 4-year tenancy lease at Tanjong Beach, Sentosa on 31 March 2009. It did not receive an option to renew its lease from its landlord, Sentosa. Instead, a public tender in September 2008 was opened by Sentosa to invite interested third parties to submit…
proposals for a new outlet to replace the existing Km8. Although Km8 participated in the tender, it was subsequently given an extension of its own lease to run business till 31 March 2009. Thereafter, Km8 will officially close its doors to its regular public and embark on a new journey to discover another fresh and exciting spot.
The closure of Km8 concludes an epoch of one of Singapore’s finest beach bar and renowned status in Asia. Over the last four years, the Km8 management worked profusely through blood and sweat to transform an unknown, idyllic beach into a lifestyle brand now famously known as Km8 at Sentosa. The publicity garnered worldwide such as New York Times, online communities and international publications in the endorsement of Km8 has illuminated it as a top-notch beach location.
This beachfront oasis also attained many local and international accolades, most significantly the international award for being one of ‘The 25 Hottest Bars Around The Globe’ Conde Nast Traveler. ‘Summerlove Dance’ was Km8’s first foray into outdoor beach festivals in 2005 held on Tanjong Beach, and is still one of the most talked-about beach parties ever held in Singapore.
Being a unique brand in Asia, Km8 was also supported by the Singapore Tourism Board. Travellers from different parts of the world were drawn to experience the meaning behind the identity of Km8. Its brand position as “a different experience on the beach” stands out on its own -both locally and worldwide. It has since been well-regarded as a destination retreat for tourists, expats and locals, with phenomenon effects that have brought such punters together every Sunday for their weekly dosage of enjoyment on the beach. Km8 was a unique concept that no others can similarly reproduce in delivering its own art of service, therapeutic music, signature cocktails and food into a cinematic choreography.
KM8 CLOSING PARTY 2009
