ZoukOut 2009 – Siloso Beach, 12 Dec

ZoukOut 2009, the most awaited outdoor dance music festival of the year is back on the pristine palm tree-lined Siloso Beach (Sentosa, Singapore) on 12 December 2009, for the 9th year, bringing forth a spectacular voyage of rapturous music, dancing, art and lots of festivities.

ZoukOut 2009 - Siloso Beach, 12 Dec (Singapore)Inspired by Greek mythology’s illustration of the legendary aquatic nymphs’ irresistible allure, with seafarers captivated by the mythical temptresses’ enchanting melodies and voice, the Sirens’ call beckons the collective buoyant vibes of partygoers at ZoukOut 2009.

Surf’s Up! Wave House Sentosa comes aboard
With a record breaking 26,000 party revellers in 2008, ZoukOut 2009 extends its venue to incorporate Siloso Beach’s latest lifestyle attraction, Wave House Sentosa, and will house two of ZoukOut’s stages! Offering exhilarating rides akin to the Wave Houses found in North America, Chile and South Africa, thrill seekers can look to make a wild splash and get their adrenaline fix whether surfing the tube, jumping waves or performing gravity defying flips and stunts.

International release of “Defected In The House ZoukOut Singapore ’10″
Following the successful release and sell out of ‘Zouk in the House’ in 2008, Zouk teams up again with globally recognized brand, Defected Records, a key player in the international dance music scene to launch a special “Defected In The House ZoukOut Singapore ’10” 2-CD compilation!

As a continuation in shaping Singapore’s dance music scene globally, Zouk, being Asia’s only super club aims to stand apart with this co-branded international release that will feature tracks mixed by Simon Dunmore, Defected Records’ head honcho and Zouk’s very own resident, djB who will lend his own signature flair to the collaboration.

Line-up sneak preview!!!

ZoukOut 2009 - Siloso Beach, 12 Dec (Singapore)
Spanning the various sounds and unparalleled vibes of the inimitable rooms of Zouk, Velvet Underground and Phuture, ZoukOut 2009 showcases the finest acts representative of today’s electronic music universe, both local and international.

The word’s most popular DJ, having been voted Number One twice (DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll), with 30 million listeners tuning in to his radio show and constantly sold out gigs globally, Trance luminary Armin van Buuren sets to headline ZoukOut 2009 his well known and best loved uplifting, euphoric sets!

Bringing down the House, will be the Defected crew led by label owner Simon Dunmore’s exceedingly lively sets, coupled with percussion extraordinaire Shovell and Yasmeen’s stirring vocals. Perfectly in theme with the festival’s buoyant spirit!

Accompanying the signature pumping Defected sounds will be London based DJ/Producer duo, Sam Holt and Gavin Mills aka Copyright, well-known for their penchant for soulful tunes with an easy global appeal, recently heating up parties as Pacha Ibiza residents and now at ZoukOut 2009!

Introducing the first of ZoukOut debutants and literally the freshest faces in the dance music scene, The Martinez Brothers, Chris (17 years old) and Steve (20 years old), take time off their residencies at Pacha (NYC & Ibiza), Cielo (NYC) and Social Club (Paris) to lend their unstoppable energy and unrivaled polished taste for upbeat house tracks!

Responsible for the packed out Parisian dancefloors of Le Queen, Le Palace and Les Bains-Douches, Martin Solveig lends some French flamboyance with his treasure trove of peppy big House tunes that he is especially reputed for.

For devout Techno heads, Minimal Techno’s poster boy and coveted owner of the M-nus label, the multi-talented Richie Hawtin, returns to our shores after gracing the inaugural ZoukOut in 2000, to rock the party proper with his infinite supply of seminal forward thinking tracks.

Pioneers of the revolutionary electroclash movement plus a fanbase that includes celebrities like Karl Lagerfeld and the (in)famous Marilyn Manson, Miss Kittin & The Hacker guarantee to please and tease with their unrivalled techno-pop sensibilities. Debuting as the ‘Live’ element at ZoukOut 2009, the duo promises to be the most commanding addition to the lineup.

Adding a dollop of flava with a mad display of turntable skills will be three-time World DMC Championship Winner DJ Craze, unquestionably regarded as one of the best scratch DJs worldwide as well as a gifted producer with a knack for sounds spanning the spectrum from Garage, Hip-Hop to even Drum & Bass and Dubstep.

Another ZoukOut debut! At the height of their musical career, Belgium-based act, Aeroplane, headed by Stephen Fasano and Vito Deluca, lands with its brand of genre-melding happy harmonies that defy any form of standard categorization with currents of psychedelic guitars, pop keys, disco beats and catchy bass lines, adding a touch of that spirited appeal to brazen Electro beats.

Celebrated music label owner (Turbo Records), acclaimed remixer and producer plus also a fine singer to boot, Tiga lends his equally ace repertoire of Electro-House fused playlists, promising to raise the party to fever pitch!

Art Gallery on the sands
Everyone who has ever attended ZoukOut knows it’s not only about the best in dance music, but about the entire festival experience, an escape into the world of visual arts and merriment for both local and visitors alike.

For 2009, besides the usual out-of-this world performers, carnival rides, palmistry, massages and food vendors, Zouk teams up with The Singapore Art Museum once again to present oneoff installations by Singapore’s premier artists, as part of Zouk’s continued support for local talents!
