Timbre Rock & Roots Music Festival
Timbre Music puts forward its largest-scale music-oriented event with Timbre Rock & Roots – a two-day evening festival to be held on 26 & 27 March 2010 at the Marina Promenade (F1 tracks behind the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay precinct) featuring a host of world-class musicians, Grammy Awards winners and nominees.

Timbre Rock & Roots is a joint collaboration project between Timbre Music Pte Ltd (of Ublues Group) and Bluesfest Pty Ltd, the organiser behind one of the world’s most prominent music festivals, East Coast Blues Festival also known as Bluesfest (Byron Bay, Australia) headed Festival Director, Mr. Peter Noble.
Timbre Music has been presenting a myriad of artists through its Timbre chain of live music bars and a strong portfolio of music events since its inception. Rock & Roots is a true testament to Timbre Music’s mandate of bringing quality musicians to Singapore audiences regardless of artists’ origins. This is in line with Bluesfest’s programming decree.
“Peter brings a wealth of agents and artist managers contacts to the table and allows us an access to high calibre musicians. We are certain that Rock & Roots will fill the gap between mainstream music festivals’ programming and the demands of audiences wanting to see a more diverse range of musicians in Singapore in a truly unique and festive atmosphere.” says Mr. Edward Chia, Managing Director, Timbre Music.
An industry veteran, Mr. Peter Noble has led Bluesfest to be one of world’s most acclaimed and respected festivals, and one of the most highly awarded. After 20 years, it is still the inspiration for dozens of blues and roots festivals in Australia.
“It started with Danny Loong (Chief Creative Director of Ublues Group/Ublues Band) performing at Bluesfest in 2004. That encounter led to a friendship and now a partnership and opportunity to bring Bluesfest multi-cultural offerings into Singapore 5 years later. What we have on this year’s line-up is just the tip of the iceberg. We look forward to groom Rock & Roots into a sustainable festival and expand the artists line-up as the partnership grows stronger.” says Mr. Peter Noble, Festival Director, Bluesfest.
Timbre Rock & Roots aims to become an annual event, taking roots in Singapore and eventually to be an iconic event as part of the live music calendar here.
“It is great to see a local lifestyle brand like Timbre diversifying its business and partnering with an internationally renowned industry player such as Peter Noble to launch another unique homegrown music festival. With its exciting line-up of artists, Timbre Rock & Roots will help augment Singapore’s music events calendar as well as reinforce Singapore’s positioning as the events and entertainment capital of Asia,” says Ms. Ranita Sundra, Deputy Director of Arts & Entertainment at the Singapore Tourism Board.
The current artists line-up is as follows:
Blues Train; Buddy Guy; Gipsy Kings; Gugun & The Blues Shelter; Jools Holland & His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra; Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club® and The Fray.
Complementing the dynamic artists line-up is the delectable range of food and beverage merchants onsite and other classic festival activities.
