Kinestasia Returns With A Bang In 2010

As part of the Singapore River Festival, Timbre Music presents KinestAsia, a multi-genre festival giving prominence to Asian musicians at the forefront of their respective musical careers at the River Promenade in front of Timbre @ The Arts House, the ACM Green outside Asian Civilization Museum and Earshot Cafe @ The Arts House.

Spread over two weekends on 25 & 26 June and 2 & 3 July 2010, 15 regional acts are making their appearances on three separate stages within the Empress Place precinct. Coming from the Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, Indonesia and India, the line-up includes Thailand’s jazz quintet Mellow Motif, led by Natasha Oong – featured on CNN’s Asia’s “Hot List: Top 20 People to Watch in Bangkok”; Organamix 4 featuring Singapore’s King of Swing himself, Jeremy Monteiro, amazing jazz drummer Hong, award-winning jazz vocalist Charito and Tots Tolentino, the multi-award winning saxophonist; monster 9-piece Latin-hip-hop band LABJACD who has toured many festivals down under; Aseana Percussion Unit, master experimenters of blending sounds and rhythms of various percussion instruments; tongue-in-cheek reggae-ska band T-Bone, one of the most internationally recognized Thai bands, having performed twice at the Glastonbury Festival; singer-songwriter Karen Blackstone who brings her blend of East-mets-West to music; funk and soul collaborative set Bamrah Brothers vs DJ Shellsuit; Corinne Gibbons, a well-known singer in the Australian independent scene renowned for her beautiful vocals and song interpretations; Indian Ocean with their repertoire from rocking political anthems to meditative spiritual ballads amongst other notable performers. Timely performances also come in the form of Inch Chua, frontwoman of Allura, who will be releasing her solo album in early-July.

“KinestAsia continues to be focused and supportive of Asian musicians by presenting a bigger line-up and experimenting with a diversity in music styles from traditional to contemporary as well as fusion of different styles. It is also the first time we are working with our neighbour at Empress Place, the Asian Civilisations Museum. We are very pleased to be able to use ACM Green as an atmospheric second venue to compliment the Timbre stage along the River Promenade.” says Mr. Danny Loong, Chief Creative Director, Ublues Group.

Complementing the music offerings are KinestAsia outdoor bars with sale of food and beverages and complimentary ABSOLUT TWIST cocktails given away to visitors to Asian Civilisations Museum. There will be free ice cream giveaways and henna art activities for everyone at the entrance of the museum as well.

For the nocturnal audiences out there, come explore the galleries of Asian Civilisations Museum after dark and cozy up to a live golden snake amid amazing royal jewelry in the special exhibition ‘Treasury of the World: Jewelled Arts of India in the Age of the Mughals’ (exhibition on 25 & 26 June only). Guests can also learn more about deadly Mughal weaponry with ‘Caesars’ – the guns, swords and armour people.

Admissions to all performance venues are free.
