Beer Market – Buy Low, Drink High!

Introducing Beer Market, the latest watering hole in Singapore. Operating on the stock exchange model with a twist, the prices of drinks fluctuate according to the total volume ordered at the bar. Play your cards right and go high alert on “bullish activity” and “market crashes”, and you might just very well get your beer at a steal. The best time for drinkers? When brands are “in the red”.

Get ready for market crashes and bull runs.

Beer Market – Buy Low, Drink High! (Singapore)
How It Works:

The concept of Beer Market is a novel take on stock exchanges; prices of “listed” alcoholic beverages fluctuate with varying demand. Simple enough, high demand for a certain brand would drive its price up, and vice versa. All prices are clearly displayed on multiple LCD screens around the establishment, with half-hourly updates on the prices.

Rock Bottom!

Sometimes, there may be a “crash”, when the price of a brand hits “rock bottom”. This may be due to a number of factors; sustained low demand, brand promotion, or simply a prolonged period of rising prices. The rule of thumb at Beer Market is to monitor the prices, and order the brand that is “in the red”.

The Beer Market Exchange platform, while a little tongue-in-cheek in its concept and execution, is intended to be a serious “test bed” for the various brands of alcoholic beverages in Singapore to do their brand positioning. Through analysing the past 7 days’ demand, the brands can gather meaningful feedback on their beverage, and adjust their marketing strategies accordingly.

More Than a Watering Hole

Beer Market is more than a place to down the booze.

Restaurant: They sport a menu that offers diverse and varied choices ranging from pizza to pasta, and kushiyaki (Japanese grilled skewers) to local delights.

Themed nights:

  • Bankers’ Night (Tuesdays) to let the people of the financial world let their hair down and paint the town red
  • Fabulous Night (Thursday) is when bohemian culture is celebrated. The house special on this night is absinthe, the drink of choice with artists and writers during the late 19th century in Europe
  • Sports on Sunday – catch EPL, F1, Champions League and more!

Live music: Catch Singapore’s favourite live band Jack and Rai every Wednesday and Friday.
