RIDE

FEBRUARY 23/ SATURDAY
PLAYING: DEEP/ MINIMAL/ HOUSE/ TECHNO

10PM TILL 4AM

LINE UP: WONDERBOY/ DAN

RIDE IS COMING HOME!

RIDE is a monthly event for party people in Singapore with a love for music, people, vibes and soul. If you think you got some of this then come along for the ride!

RIDE was born about half a year ago when a friend was looking to host a birthday party in the fashion people use to party back in Europe. He had a hard time to find what he was looking for – a non pretentious, no frills bar / club night with rock solid electronic music, outgoing and fun people. Two friends – both DJs from Switzerland and Germany who have been spinning across Europe since the mid 90′s and recently relocated to Singapore -took on the task and they laid the fundament of what is now known as RIDE.

That first night, around 100 like-minded people turned up and took the roof off the place. Overwhelmed by the interest in Singapore for a somewhat “different” night with a European club-night-touch, they went on and organized one RIDE after another with continuous success in ever changing locations. Of which all have in common their unique charm and offer a very welcome contrast to the existing Singapore nightlife landscape.

Highest priority for the RIDE organization is to stick to is values no matter how large RIDE can and will grow: RIDE is a no-frills night out experience with the highest quality music in its field and some of the most talented DJs in Asia. It aims to attract fun loving, outgoing people from anywhere and everywhere and most importantly, it wants all RIDErs to have a blast of a night!

To sum it up, the RIDE experience is built around unpretentious vibes for party people who enjoy styles of electronic music. RIDE is an event designed to deliver great sound to an even greater crowd – our focus is the MUSIC, the PEOPLE and the VIBES! WHERE DO YOU GET OFF?

1030PM TILL 3AM

KICKS! is your weekly Indie-rock spaceship, with crew leader Joe Ng & his sidekicks, Roland Ngoi and female DJ duo TWOFACE, Grace Sunami & Linda Hao.

Picture this: Indie beats, Alternative Rock anthems, Electro, Punk, Twee, Pop Rock and wicked combinations of each. Snarling snares, clipped kicks, synths with flares, guitar riffs from Mars, fist pumps, and a giant measure of pure bliss. (Also expect to see air guitarists) KICKS! offers you a spectrum of Indie-rock and guaranteed smiles with TWOFACE and the boys.

It happens every 1st Friday with TWOFACE, and the 2nd & 3rd Friday with Joe Ng & Roland Ngoi. With nights like this, the only thing left to do is to get on your dancing kicks and get crackin’ on the dance floor.

JOE NG
Formerly from the Padres, Joe Ng was a prominent player in Singapore’s indie scene, and has carved his niche as a film music composer. He has also been a Beat! resident DJ for the last 6 years.

THURSDAYS

HOME CLUB PRESENTS
ONE MIC STAND FEAT. KUMAR

EVERY 2ND & 4TH THURSDAY
14 FEBRUARY/ 28 FEBRUARY/ THURSDAY

9PM TILL LATE

Unleashing knee-slapping jokes at each of our One Mic Stand nights is none other than Singapore’s drag queen of comedy and all things funny, Kumar.

We promise you a night of face cramps and world-class entertainment, nothing less. Prepared to get your sides split! One Mic Stand is definitely a night to be watched. You’ll hate yourself for missing it.

KUMAR
Arguably Singapore’s most famous gay icon and leading comic, KUMAR made his name as a drag queen comedian back in the early 1990′s at the now defunct Boom Boom Room. Having spent nearly two decades and counting in the entertainment industry, KUMAR has amassed a string of television, stage, and film credits.

In a time when few dared to speak about queer issues or politics, he cracked the most outrageous jokes about sex, race and government, in between sets of lip-syncing, traditional Indian dance routines and hunky go-go boys. Until this day, KUMAR pushes the boundaries of his shows by making fun of things that are taboo in Singapore.

Today, KUMAR is undoubtedly one of most sought after comedians in Singapore. He is extremely popular with the Singapore audience as they delight in his humour about their policies, sex lives and racial quirks. He gets away with pushing boundaries without the authorities having to step in, whilst still remaining entertaining.

Jokes aside, KUMAR wants to be a voice for all Singaporeans, regardless of their sexuality and despite his own orientation doesn’t try to influence homosexuality legalisation issues in Singapore.

TUESDAYS

HOME CLUB PRESENTS
COMEDY MASALA EVERY TUESDAY

SINGAPORE’S ONLY WEEKLY STAND-UP COMEDY OPEN-MIC
9PM TILL 11:30PM

HOSTED BY: UMAR RANA

Comedy Masala brings you Singapore’s newest and only weekly stand-up comedy open-mic night. Join Comedy Masala’s founder and resident host Umar Rana (2nd runner-up at Hong Kong International Comedy Festival ’09) as he takes you through a laugh a minute. Better yet, down some beers for courage and get up onstage to tell a couple of jokes yourself!

Umar Rana founded comedy Masala in September 2010 to establish a weekly Standup Comedy Open Mic platform in Singapore and to give anyone a chance to learn and perform standup comedy to a live audience. Comedy Masala kicked off on 5th October 2010, and it has since seen a multitude of local comedians get up onstage for three to five minutes every Tuesday.

“If you want to shake away the Monday Blues on a Tuesday, head to Home Club. It’s seriously funny. And that’s no joke.” (Christopher Toh, TODAY)

“widely popular” travelfish.org

Masala’s popularity has increased rapidly since its launch. The thrill of watching live comedy whilst enjoying happy hour drinks all night has made Comedy Masala at Home Club one of Singapore’s best Tuesday nights out.

Comedy Masala’s biggest success came in 2011 when two of our comics opened for the Emmy-nominated actor and Saturday Night Live veteran Rob Schneider during his standup comedy world tour stopover in Singapore. Comedy Masala’s Resident MC Umar Rana was also chosen as the MC for the night. The event remains as the biggest crowd Comedy Masala has ever performed for, with over 1,400 people cheering and laughing!

Comedy Masala has produced and co-presented professional comedy shows “Laugh Off Asia” and “Karma Komedians” in Singapore in partnership with Home Club & DMR Productions.

In January 2012, Comedy Masala signed a one season, 13 episode deal with MediaCorp to air Comedy Masala on TV in Singapore.

Brave and humorous souls, contact Umar Rana at umar@comedymasala.com for a fiveminute spot.
