To build a new local collective of like minded electronic dance community. In continuation of the past influential generations before us, we are re creating an atmosphere to pay homage to the local underground dance culture. Grounded with interrelated concepts of space and performativeness in relation to Home Club’s underground scene. Our dance scene is much more than its philosophies, ideals and beliefs that run deep. It runs through each and everyone of us who has a beat in our daily lives. The promoters, the space, the djs, the visuals and the dancers. Its all about our movement.

- The LE PALOOZA’s fourth installment at Home Club focuses on two objectives, music and community. Techno and Shahril “The Bull” Salim. Hence with all honesty and sincerity, the crew is putting in as much effort to raise awareness on behalf of Shahril’s family and Wake The Bull Project. There will be a donation drive to help in our contributions to this cause. Below is an excerpt of Salim’s story taken from Wake The Bull Project.

“He was trained by Juggernaut Fight Club and the trainer discovered his ability in boxing. After a year, the trainer found him ready to be a professional boxer, and he could be one of the few, if not the first, Singaporean boxers who became professionals without any amateur credits under his belt. He was given his golden opportunity to a bout on November 9 2012 at Marina Bay Sands as an undercard to Chris John’s title defense, on a big platform representing his club and Singapore, against an opponent from China. It was dream come true for him. He was so prepared for the bout. He trained every single day. He never missed his personal fitness regime just to stay in shape. All was looking good for him until the tragedy that struck him on October 28 2012. He was enduring his group sparring session and had the upper control. He ended his sparring session and stepped out of the ring to prepare himself to go to work when he felt nauseous. He told the trainer he need to vomit. He was escorted by 2 of his fellow team mates to the restroom where he passed out. He was rushed to Singapore General Hospital within minutes and had to undergo a brain surgery immediately; with less than 2 hours to survive. And until now, he have not regained consciousness. During his first week in ICU, he contracted pneumonia that forced him to undergo another surgery, a tracheotomy, in order to ease his plight. Currently, he is still in the acute phase and it is just the tip of the iceberg. Medical experts are conducting a thorough check on him in stabilizing his condition as he is now being suspected of having other medical complications that has arise from his traumatic brain injury.”

Get well soon Shahril ‘The Bull” Salim. Fight it out.

THURSDAYS

HOME CLUB PRESENTS
ONE MIC STAND FEAT. KUMAR

14 MARCH/ 21 MARCH/ THURSDAY
9PM TILL LATE

Unleashing knee-slapping jokes at each of our One Mic Stand nights is none other than Singapore’s drag queen of comedy and all things funny, Kumar.

We promise you a night of face cramps and world-class entertainment, nothing less. Prepared to get your sides split! One Mic Stand is definitely a night to be watched. You’ll hate yourself for missing it.

KUMAR
Arguably Singapore’s most famous gay icon and leading comic, KUMAR made his name as a drag queen comedian back in the early 1990′s at the now defunct Boom Boom Room. Having spent nearly two decades and counting in the entertainment industry, KUMAR has amassed a string of television, stage, and film credits.

In a time when few dared to speak about queer issues or politics, he cracked the most outrageous jokes about sex, race and government, in between sets of lip-syncing, traditional Indian dance routines and hunky go-go boys. Until this day, KUMAR pushes the boundaries of his shows by making fun of things that are taboo in Singapore.

Today, KUMAR is undoubtedly one of most sought after comedians in Singapore. He is extremely popular with the Singapore audience as they delight in his humour about their policies, sex lives and racial quirks. He gets away with pushing boundaries without the authorities having to step in, whilst still remaining entertaining.

Jokes aside, KUMAR wants to be a voice for all Singaporeans, regardless of their sexuality and despite his own orientation doesn’t try to influence homosexuality legalisation issues in Singapore.

Better yet, down some beers for courage and get up onstage to tell a couple of jokes yourself!

Comedy Masala’s Resident MC Umar Rana was also chosen as the MC for the night. The event remains as the biggest crowd Comedy Masala has ever performed for, with over 1,400 people cheering and laughing!

Comedy Masala has produced and co-presented professional comedy shows “Laugh Off Asia” and “Karma Komedians” in Singapore in partnership with Home Club & DMR Productions.

In January 2012, Comedy Masala signed a one season, 13 episode deal with MediaCorp to air Comedy Masala on TV in Singapore.
