Lifebrandz Ltd, the company behind the highly successful Ministry of Sound Singapore today announced that they will be opening the first ever stand-alone Kandi Bar at The Cannery Clarke Quay in mid October. The eponymous bar, named for Hed Kandi, will be... the first of a series of entertainment and food and beverage outlets opening at The Cannery over the next few months. At over 1,200 sq ft, the bar is a chillout venue with an alfresco area which can accommodate over 180 persons.

"We see it almost as an inevitable extension of MoS,” said Lifebrandz Executive Director, Clement Lee. "Kandi Bar will be the new sexy chill-out destination for anyone who wants an atmosphere with the whole package of good music, drinks, surroundings and proximity to other entertainment venues such as MoS. In fact, we predict that it’ll be the pre-clubbing meeting place for many as well as the venue to wind-down after a hard night’s clubbing. Otherwise, its chic setting is perfect for after-office drinks or even a gathering place for small and intimate parties."

Of course, a big draw of the venue is the Hed Kandi music that will pervade the bar. The UK music record label has provided the world with its inimitable style of dance music since 1999 and since grown in strength through the years. It has launched over 50 albums to record sales and rave reviews, its popularity attributable to the love of great music and is widely recognised for its series of eclectic compilations and world-famous DJs and live entertainment. The label was acquired by Ministry of Sound in January 2006 as part of its take over of the Guardian Media Group’s Enterprise Records and Ministry of Sound UK opened its first Kandi Bar within its new Minibar concept in Harrogate in the UK. Kandi Bar Singapore will line up a series of phenomenal live gigs featuring worldclass Hed Kandi DJs such as Jack McCord, Tom De Neef, Andy Norman etc, many of whom have played in MoS on their regular Hed Kandi nights.

For the opening, Kandi Bar will only issue exclusive invitations to guests who sign up on their website at www.hedkandi.com.sg. The opening date will only be revealed one week before and the programme for the launch is being kept under wraps at the moment but Marketing Manager Calvin Sio says, "I guarantee all guests will be blown away by what we’ve planned for that evening. Just come early and be prepared to stay on and on and on……because with what we’ve planned, let’s just say you won’t want to leave!"
