Silk, Bintan’s first island party club, officially opens its doors in Bintan Lagoon Resort. Silk aims to attract Singapore residents, is styled as the urbane party playground of Bintan. Silk Bintan was built at a cost of S$650,000. Measuring over 500 square meters, the club accommodates up to 300 guests.

Decor:
The sensual journey begins with a soft light filtering from the lantern-like timber screen entrance. Within the entrance foyer, cool grey walls with slit light niches are playfully highlighted with hints of carmine red and recessed sections. Further inwards, the club’s main walls feature the same passionate red glimpsed earlier. These main walls are dramatically shrouded by delicate netted drapes reminiscent of ladies stockings.

Surrounded by chrome finished sleek barstools and encased in a soft glow of rice paper textured red acrylic panels, is the 12m x 4m bar at the heart of the club. Pin-spot down lights accentuate the hints of gold in the expansive marble counter.

Blonde string fringe curtains hang from circular pelmets to create an exotic screen effect for each of the five intimate "peek-a-boo" alcoves. These clandestine spaces feature a combination of plush ruby red serpentine sofas, donut ottomans and mushroom couches.

Technology:
A state-of-the-art sound and lighting system provides a range of professional effects such as crescendo as well as thumping disco and high fidelity audio for Silk Bintan's regular show bands. One two-meter high projector screen and three 42” LCD TV screens are strategically positioned to provide live coverage of entertainment and real time digital feed to www.silk-bintan.com. The website will additionally feature a detailed events calendar and photo gallery of Silk guests and celebrities. Guests are also able to request songs through an ‘SMS’ directly to the DJ console.

Entertainment:
To the left of the interior, a live band performs on an 18-square meter stage while the enclosed DJ console is located diagonally from the stage behind the bar.

With experience spanning Z Batam (formerly Zouk) and top clubs in Singapore, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, DJ Besty, spins an eclectic mix of music - chill-out jazz; funky soul grooves, chart-topping pop, awesome rock, progressive house and hip hop. Partnering Besty is DJ Amroy whose past stints included the Paladium and Marimba in Jakarta.

Beverage and Bites:
Silk Bintan's extensive beverage list ranges from designer cocktails, gastronomic frozen beverages and sumptuous house creations. A generous selection of mainstream drinks are available, including the latest in flavored vodka from Grey Goose and Absolut to world beers, sakes and wine labels from top vineyards. To tantalize the taste buds further, "Silk Ice" (exotic cocktails served frozen in the form of popsicles on a stick) and "Silk Jelly" or alcohol infused jelly shots are on the menu.

To quell hunger pangs, light snacks such as assorted pizzas, sushi, nachos, satays, soda bread burgers and toasted ciabattas are also offered.

Events:
Each night of the week showcases a different beverage theme. Some of these are:
- Silk Chill for jazz, whiskey and cigars
- Silk Crush for the largest collection of frozen funky cocktail popsicles
- Latino Escapade for hot Latin sounds and tapas
- Friday Fire for flaming cocktails with DJ’s house, pop and R&B
- Sunday Sanctuary for lounge music and luscious lumpia (springrolls)
- Melt, a night dedicated to the cocoa bean featuring a chocolate fountain and cocktails to match
- China Beach for Asian infused vodkas and Shanghainese snacks

Silk Bintan's service personnel are smartly clad in hip and chic designs. Males wear black linen trousers and t-shirts with "SILK" embroidered on the front and back just under the collar. Female staff are dressed in linen-silk black skirts with a high slit on the side to show off the red underlining and tops with Mandarin frog buttons and Japanese sleeves.
