, frozen or in sophisticated cocktails that complement its quality and finesse.
Commenting on this new addition to the Smirnoff fold, Tan Wei-Lin, Smirnoff brand manager at Riche Monde said: "Just as James Bond has always embodied panache and sophistication, Smirnoff Black No. 55 is a stylish and indulgent vodka. The unique and traditional copper pot-still production process ensures a luxurious and rare vodka with a smooth and well-rounded flavour to be savoured.
"The premium taste of SMIRNOFF Black No.55 does not 'burn' and is instead smooth and mellow, making it a perfect drink to be enjoyed neat over ice, frozen or mixed".
Returning to the Copper Pot-Still
The centuries-old method of pot-still distillation is the key to the distinctive taste of SMIRNOFF Black No.55. In adopting this style of distillation, the SMIRNOFF brand pays tribute to Russia’s golden age of vodka production in the 18th century, almost 300 years ago. This was a time when the unique copper pot-still method was used to create exclusive vodkas which were symbols of pride for the gentry estates that produced them, and these vodkas were enjoyed by Russian aristocracy and the Tsars alike, (the Russian Emperors).
Starting with high-quality grain, SMIRNOFF distillers work today in small batches using a copper pot-still that is itself more than 100 years old. The pot-still accentuates desirable vodka characteristics and preserves the character of the original grain spirit. Distillation is followed by a single charcoal filtration, which removes selected congeners (impurities created during the fermentation and distillation process), ensuring its purity without stripping the product of its unique taste profile.
Taste the No.55 Difference
As the vodka market becomes more crowded, many people are not sure how to differentiate among the array of product offerings on the bar. SMIRNOFF believes that tasting is the key to discerning your vodka preferences and finding a memorable vodka taste experience that you truly enjoy. To appreciate Smirnoff Black:
- First, "nose" a glass of SMIRNOFF Black No.55. What you won't smell is the typical vodka "burn".
- Then, taste: swill the liquid around and take a sip. You'll discover a vodka with rounded, lasting smoothness and mellow, but noticeable, character.
Enjoy it in style
A vodka with rare character, SMIRNOFF Black No.55 is perfect for enjoying neat or frozen. With its subtle taste profile, it is also well-suited to shorter cocktails.
SMIRNOFF Black No.55 will be available at selected bars across Singapore and will cost in the region of $200 for a 75cl bottle. Always enjoy SMIRNOFF Black No.55 responsibly.
