Guinness, the world's #1 stout, announced a responsible drinking initiative to provide as many as 70,000 party-goers with FREE transport this festive season. Members of the public can look out for six Guinness-branded buses when they are out celebrating Christmas and New Year between (22 to 24 December and 29 to 31 December), which will...

take them around various locations in town and then safely back home at the end of each night.



The Guinness responsible drinking initiative, spearheaded by Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore and supported by brand-owner Diageo, seeks to educate the public that it is possible to have fun and be socially responsible, and builds on the Guinness "Greatness" campaign launched earlier this year.

John Galvin, Marketing Manager for Guinness, said, "Everyone is entitled to go out and have a great time with their friends during this festive season, but they are also responsible for getting themselves and their friends home safely. We strongly encourage party-goers to let someone else do the driving or get a free ride on one of our Guinness buses when they are out and about during this Christmas and New Year holidays."

Guinness' efforts complement the anti-drink drive campaign launched by the Traffic Police last week. "We are delighted that Guinness is supporting our Anti Drink and Drive message in this socially responsible way. We encourage revellers to leave their vehicles, make full use of this transport service and get a free ride home. In the first eleven months of this year, 24 people have already lost their lives to drink driving. These deaths could have been avoided, if the drivers had made a conscious effort not to drink and drive," said Superintendent Phillip Mah, Head Operations and Training, Traffic Police.

Six Guinness buses will run on two shifts of four hours each. The first shift starts from 9pm when the buses will run in a loop service to take party-goers to five different locations, namely City Hall, Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Zouk and Orchard Emerald, until 1am. The second shift runs on an hourly basis between 1am and 4am, when the buses will pick up passengers at five Guinness-branded bus stops in town before travelling along one of the three planned routes (North, East and West) and dropping them off at major MRT stations along the way.
