DBS LIVE FRESH
PRESENTS MARCO V (HOLLAND)

Friday 2 May 2008 at Zouk

Marco V’s (or Marco Verkuylen as his parents call him) career as a DJ & producer has seen a meteoric rise, entering the Top 100 DJ list at number 20 in ‘07. Starting to spin records at the age of 14 (three years before pitch controls were first introduced to turntables) must’ve done wonders for him as by 1996 Marco was installed as the resident of De Danssalon, the biggest club in Eindhoven, presenting him with the opportunity to showcase his undoubted talents to the masses.

His tough, tech-trancy / progressive sets are a sight to behold. Melding a gamut of genres with sheer effortlessness, when he’s leaves the decks at the end of the night he usually takes a full dance floor with him.

SANDER VAN
DOORN (HOLLAND)

Saturday 3 May 2008 at Zouk

If it isn’t enough that this super talented DJ often leaves mouth’s agape and legs tired from floor motion sickness, he finally dropped the phenomenal debut ‘Supernaturalistic’ leaving the masses begging for more.

Part melodic trance, part funky techno, a little bit of intelli-minimal and not forgetting chugging house, this prolific producer has something for everyone. From peak time to freak time, his tracks take you places that you only dream about. Armed with a bagful of tricks and tracks, Sander’s one DJ that truly commands respect and rightfully so.

HYPERLIVE (UK)
Friday 16 May 2008 at Zouk
Constantly at the cutting edge of dance music since the turn of the millennium, Hyper is a DJ in worldwide demand. His past as a compiler of the mix CD is unparalleled. Starting the lauded ‘Y3K’ series that set the pace in the leftfield, progressive spheres, Hyper upped the ante with a pair of mixes under the ‘Bedrock Breaks’ banner before branching out into the endless possibilities of the high-tech masterpiece ‘Wired’, on his own Kilowatt imprint.

His recent output has seen him forming a kick-ass rock ‘n’ roll band under the Hyper moniker, featuring erstwhile Prodigy member Leeroy, ex-Pitchshifter axe-spanker Jim Davies and The Light and PFNs main-man, Ronnie. Their critically acclaimed ‘We Control’ album took them out of the clubs and onto the stages of festivals all over the globe, including Glastonbury, Glade, the Sziget Festival in Hungary and Coliseo Ciudad de Atarfe in Spain.

Of the many black musicians who lived and played the blues as early as the 1920’s all through till the 1970’s, it was found that seven in ten suffered the bleeding gums (gingivitis), most of whom reacted badly to the dentist and refused the services of the toothbrush.

Fortunately, the sounds that came through the infection were the music that started the funk. Velvet Underground and The George Clinton Funk Company relaunches Thursdays and will host the soulful rendition and tribute to the Black Funk Artistes who suffered the Bleeding Gums yet went on to define the soul and disco generation.
